Collapse of a Man

Collapse of a Man

A Poem by Abhishek Izy
"

Breakdown of everything which mattered to you, in the last of your breath. A realization that so vast your existence doesn't really matter in the grand scale of our social and ecological spectrum

"
The Lake

Forgotten in the mist which fills around like a suspended holy smoke,
Its cold pristine water nourishing the algae on the shore bed rocks.
The fishes darting out to shallow waters in subtle throb of alacrity.
Condensed dew drips off the sleepy leaves, into the calmness of the lake.
The living spectacle of lust green breathing jungle painted all around it.

The Sparrows

And not far in the woods, once lived a family of the mischievous sparrows,
Which twittered, danced and made love under the branches of wild mango trees.
Beneath the late afternoon thunderous burst of the clouds into summer rains.
Feasting on the half ripe fleshy fruits and fluttering back to the family,
Their adobe nestled in the high branches, where the chirpy tiny tots awaited.

The Mountain Peak

It always stood animated, proud and unparalleled for centuries in the past
Its enormity layered with sheets of snow and harsh cold winds on the surface.
Watching the microscopic world below,as their pride drown in its own cacophony,
And wondering about its reasons of existence through the evolutionary landscapes.
Because all it ever felt was pathetically numb, cold and emptiness of the top

The Humans

And there stood the proudest of them all,in a pretentious glory spanning ages.
Splattered across the face of this beautiful planet in its all shapes and color,
Like thousands glittering colorful stars stitched in a sun kissed nomad's skirt.
Constantly rising, sparkling and colliding into each others and everything else,
Yet completely unfazed and out of focus with the giant living display of the Nature.

One of Them

Perplexed how quickly everything which mattered vaporized in no time.
Right in front of his eyes, he built it only to be blown back to none.
And just like that, everything connected to him just slipped far away.
Being a good human had cost him every memento of his hard earned life.
Only if he knew the truth, that none mattered.
Like a speck of a sand caught in the oyster's skin,
Who doesn't have a choice but to be just a pearl.

The Re-Union

The empires he built for years off his blood and sweat,
Had exiled him into the dark murky corners of his own head.
And he chose to take himself away from everything else,
As he stepped closer to the edge of the towering peak.
Staring at the tiny view of the lake below lost in mist,
And smiling at the last of the lost families of the sparrows.
Created out of nothingness,
Slowly washed back into it.
He took his last breath,
And Flew.

Wonderful poem with a very good choice of words. I really liked the sparrows and the lake one. They have a very beautiful description of the nature. Nice work 👍

Thank you very much for positive reviewing my poem Catchy Copper. I'd be grateful of any other of your responses to my writing.

As for this piece, I was lost, in a very good way. The format makes every paragraph a poem in it's own right, and the extensive imagery gives a spiritual aspect which I'm afraid I cant relate to. However there is a materialism there, a connection with earth, especially humans and their relation to it. Immigration basically. Or maybe better described as migration. After all, immigrants built stone hedge.

I found your layered poem highly effective, and will certinally read more of your work.
