Just A Normal Day

A Chapter by Noah Wayverlynn

It was a beautiful Monday morning in central Tokyo, Japan. Megami Yamada, a junior at Yanamikara High School woke up as her alarm rang. "Megami! get up! It's time to go to school baby girl!" Ayano Yamada said as she walked into the room. Ayano was a short blue haired girl with green eyes. She was the principal of Yanamikara High School ever since a week after she gave birth to Megami. "Yes mom. I'm coming. I know you hate being late for work. The school and the district are counting on you." Megami replied with a smile. Megami's mom smiled, and then she left the room. Megami put her long brown hair into a braid and rubbed her blue eyes with a yawn. After she grabbed her book bag, She ran down the stairs to the front door. Her mother had already started the car so that it would be running when her daughter walked out the door. Their car was a blue Mazda with air conditioning and a radio. The two girls drove to Yanamikara every day despite living so close because the school was about nine blocks away, and they were both going to the same destination anyway. On the way to school, the girls listened to Tokyo FM. "Good Morning Yanamikara High!" Ayano and Megami said as they pulled into the parking lot. Unfortunately, Megami's favorite song came on when they were about to get out of the car. "my favorite song is on, but I can listen to it later." exclaims Megami as her mom turned off the car. "Now don't forget to change your shoes when you get into school Megami." Ayano says as she walks with her to the entrance. Yanamikara was a big school with lots of sakura trees and cherry blossom trees surrounding it. There was a fountain in front of the school entrance, and it was blue. The school was a beautiful brick building that had a bright tint of yellow. As the mother walked quicker to her office after talking to Megami, Megami found her friends at their lockers. "Good morning girls! ready for the student council meeting tonight?" The girl asked as she changed her shoes. "Morning! yes, we're ready for the meeting." the other girls exclaimed. "is there anything you want me to do before tonight's meeting?" asked Osana Haruka. Osana was the assistant club president of the student council. That meant that Osana could help run the meetings, and take over when Megami Yamada was absent. "There is not much you can do right now, but please take this and make some copies so that we can hand them out during the meeting." Megami replied as she took a stack of papers out of her book bag to hand to Osana. Osana was a short girl with short blonde hair that was shoulder length. Her eyes were green. The group of friends walked to the school plaza together, and chatted about things like student council. They chatted until 8:15, but then it was time to head inside to their classes. "Bye girls! See you at lunch!" The principal's daughter exclaimed as she went towards her classroom. Suddenly, Megami sees Yuna Aishi running past her. "Slow down Yuna!" Megami called to her. "No, I can't slow down! I am going to be late for class!" Yuna called back. Before Megami could tell her that it was not time for class yet, One of the senior boys bumped into her while going down to the first floor. "Oh I'm sorry. Please... Let me help you pick up your things." Yuna was too into him, and she didn't answer. She smiled as she looked him in the eyes. "oh thank you!" she stuttered and got up. Once he handed Yuna her bag of school supplies, he started walking closer to the left side. As Megami got closer to Yuna, she heard her mumble "I should have asked what his name was. He's so dreamy." A few more minutes passed by without anyone saying a thing. Yuna went into her classroom on the second floor, but Megami's classroom was on the third floor near her mom's office. The bell rang at 8:35 for classes to begin. Her friends Osana was in the same class as her, but all of her other friends were in different classes. Megami couldn't stop thinking about the incident with Yuna and the boy that ran into her. Despite those thoughts being distracting, she tried to ignore them so that she can focus on what the teacher was teaching. Her mom wouldn't want her to get a B on an exam all because of lack of concentration, so Megami had to try to pretend that the incident never happened. At noon, the lunch bell rang. Everyone was dismissed from class for lunch. Megami and her friends met up in the cafeteria to chat while getting their meals, but they went to the school rooftop to chat until they had to go back to class. The girls talked about how their mornings were, and they also talked about what they learned in class. Once Osana was done telling everyone about her day, Megami began to tell them about her strange morning. "Well, something strange happened to me this morning. There was this girl who was running to class because she thought she was going to be late, but then a boy bumped into her. By the look on her face, I knew that she was falling in love with the boy. She also mumbled to herself saying that she should've asked what his name was because she thought he was dreamy. I know him. His name is..." Megami stopped talking because she saw Yuna walk past them. She didn't want to reveal the boy's name to her. Moments after Yuna passed, she started talking again knowing that the girl wasn't in sight or within hearing distance. "His name is Takashi Matsumoto." Megami's friend Aya Onishi stood up quickly and put her hands on her hips. "What? That girl is trying to steal my boyfriend??? If she thinks she'll get away with this, she is so wrong!!!" Osana stood up and grabbed Aya's hand. "Calm down girl. Maybe there's a way to stop her peacefully. There's no need to fight aggressively over a boy." she said as Aya relaxed and took her hands off her hips. The girls rushed to class since they had to be back by the time the next bell rings. Her second teacher didn't have very many assignments for the class to do, so Megami spent the rest of the time brainstorming ideas to help Aya stop Yuna. She only had 15 minutes until clean up time began, so she had to brainstorm ideas quickly. After 15 minutes went by, the bell rang again to signal the beginning of clean up time. Megami had to wipe down all the desks that were on the second floor. Cleaning the desks was easy for Megami to accomplish, however, she had to wipe them down twice. First time she wiped them down, she had to use regular soapy water. However, she had to bleach the desks for the second time she cleaned them. Despite the long process of cleaning the desks, it took Megami an hour and a half to wipe all the desks down. When Megami finished her cleaning responsibilities, she went downstairs to meet her friends. It took most of her friends an hour to finish their cleaning duties. When Megami found her friends, they walked up to the student council room to prepare for the meeting. As the girls got the meeting ready, Aya Onishi said "Hey girls, come by my house tonight so that we can discuss ways to stop Yuna from stealing my boyfriend." All the girls nodded, but didn't want to say anything since other student council members were already coming in. Since it was only the second week of school, The student council did an activity to get to know each other better. Everyone had Say their name and then tell a random fact about themselves. Then, they had to go around the room to ask each other questions. Once that was completed, everyone had a snack while Megami and Osana finished talking about what the student council was all about and what they would be doing. There wasn't a lot of students in the student council due to the rule that students couldn't join unless they sign up and get a letter in the mail saying that they're in. Suddenly, the door opens quickly. "I'm here. sorry I'm late." Yuna said as she took a seat in the front row. "Hello Yuna Aishi, did you sign up and get a letter in the mail saying that you made it in? If you did get the letter, may I see it?" Osana said quietly as Megami kept leading the mmeting. Yuna reached into her bag and pulled out an envelope with a piece of paper in it. To Osana, the letter and envelope Yuna presented looked fake. Osana grabbed the letter, and examined it. "This letter is fake. We don't write the letter by hand, we type them up. Also, this envelope is fake too. I see all the tape you used to put it together. Nice try fooling us though. You've really got the artistic skill. I suggest you stick to the art club. Get out!" Osana said with a mix of anger and attitude. Yuna did not move from the seat, and just kept looking at Osana and the board. Megami was too busy leading the student council meeting, so Osana couldn't interrupt her to ask what to do with Yuna. She went to the corner of the room, and pulled out her cell phone to call Megami's mom for assistance. "Can you please send someone down to the student council room to remove Yuna Aishi? She came in with a fake letter and envelope while claiming that she made it into the student council. I asked her to leave, but she's not leaving." As she turned around to look at Yuna, Megami's mom replied "Yes Osana, I'll send the school officer to remove her immediately." Shortly after the conversation ended, the door to the council room opened. No one looked to see who it was, not even Megami. "Yuna Aishi, you have to come with me. You are interrupting a club meeting. Ayano requested me to take you to her office." Yuna stood up to look at the officer, and gave him a harsh look. As the officer pulled her away, she yelled "n..n..no wait! It is real! just look at it." As the student council members were watching a short video about the club, Megami looked in the direction of Yuna's screams. She looked at Osana with a smile, and asked her "What did Yuna do this time? She's always causing trouble." Osana frowned and looked her friend in the eyes "Yuna brought in a fake letter, and she claimed that she got into the student council. Even the envelope was fake. She wouldn't leave when I asked her o, so I asked your mom if she could send someone down to forcefully remove her from the room." Once the video ended, it was time for the meeting to end. Osana helped her friends clean up the room, and then they left all together. chairs pushed in, lights off, time to go home!
