The Call

The Call

A Chapter by Noah Wayverlynn

Later that day, Megami Yamada was hanging out with her friends at Aya Onishi's house. They were discussing ways to protect Takashi from the grasp of Yuna Aishi. Suddenly in the middle of the conversation, Osana's phone rings. "How dare you remove me from your stupid little student council room. I was doing nothing wrong, and I wasn't even doing anything to you or the other members. I got in! that's what my letter said." Osana shook her head in disgust. "Um...Correction Yuna, You did not make it into the student council. that letter you had was fake. Just admit it, you were just trying to get a free ticket in." Osana's friends laughed at her response. "By the way, I know that you and Megami are trying to stop me from winning Takashi's hart. Just know that I am out to get whoever gets in my way. No one will be safe, not even you or Aya! You'll be sorry you messed with me when you see your friends dead, and all covered in..." Osana hung up the phone before Yuna could finish her sentence. She tossed her phone into her pocket after blocking Yuna's number. "What's up girl?" Mayumi asked as Osana covered her face. "Y...Yuna has gone crazy. she was threatening me, and she was saying that no one would be safe. She even said that she knows we're trying to stop her from loving Takashi." Aya told Osana not to block the number, even though she already did. She told her that they could record the conversations so they can catch Yuna's threats on tape. Aya, Megami, Osana, and Mayumi all installed a phone recorder on their phones. It would allow them to record conversations on their phones as well as each others phones. Once they add their numbers to the app, there would be a record option net to the names. All they had to do was press the record button, and then it would record any conversation they choose. After a brief silence, Aya's phone starts to ring. "It's Yuna. start recording please." she said as she answered after pressing the record button on the app. "Hello." she said normally. "You and your friends are completely insane. You think that you could mess with me? Trying to stop me from stealing your guy, and preventing me from joining your club. oh just you wait until I get you. You're not safe from me. I'll beat you and you friends up if we ever cross paths. I will walk away from the fight laughing."Aya hung up after Yuna finished that sentence. The girls finished recording, and gasped in shock. "She has gone insane." they all said at the same time. "I understand that she has threatened us, but that's not enough to get her expelled or put in a detention center. I guess we will have to disguise ourselves so we can spy on Yuna to see what her next move is." Megami said with a frightened tone. "Going undercover!" Mayumi started to sing. "Hahaha. Stop it Mayumi! This is a serious situation." Aya said. The girl with blonde hair made her way to the costume box in her walk-in closet. "Here are some costumes we can use. Megami, you can be dressed up as Superwoman. Osana, you're going to be Cat Woman. Mayumi, you will be secret agent. I will dress up as Nancy Drew. Ready for this?" Everyone nodded as they examined their costumes. Megami's mom would wonder why her daughter is wearing a costume, but Megami would just say that it's for fun or for a student council thing. "Just to let you know that you can keep your costumes after we're done with this whole Yuna situation. Just in case you need it." Aya said as she closed the closet door. Before her mom died in a plane crash, Aya's mom would tell her daughter "Never give. up. Don't let anyone stop you from anything." Aya was only six years old at the time, so she had to live with her sister ever since. She couldn't stay with her father, because he was very sick and in the hospital. Her father would always tell her "Never give up on your dreams. If someone gets in your way or tries to stop you from doing your thing, give them a piece of your mind and ignore them. They don't know you, and they never will." Aya's sister came in as the three girls were leaving. "See you tomorrow!" The girls yelled as Aya waved good night. Aya started talking to Hanako as she began to cook dinner. She was talking to her about Yuna, and the situation that she was in. The girls are very close, so Hanako can sense what mood her sister is in. "You mean Yuna Aishi? That mean girl?" she responded with an angry look. Aya nodded as her sister put garlic bread in the oven. "So what are you going to do to deal with Yuna this time?" the girl asked with a desperate look. "Well, my friends and I are recording every phone conversation we have with her. Since she threatened me and my friends, we are going to disguise ourselves so we can spy on her to see what her next move is. We have a code names so that she doesn't know that it's actually us in the disguises. My code name is Crystal, but my friends Osana, Mayumi, and Megami have different ones. Osana's is Katie, Mayumi's code name is sparkle, and Megami's name is Twilight. Yuna won't figure us out with those names." The girl nodded and clapped after the response. She praised Aya for being a big girl and attempting to take situations into her own hands. "Well, let's forget about the situation right now, and focus on other things. Besides the whole situation with Yuna, how was your day?" The high school girl replied with a short response, but didn't get into to much detail about her day. "You know little sis, you are amazing. I love you so much and would do anything to ensure you're safe and taken care of. I still miss mom and dad, but they both know that we're awesome sisters." When Hanako gets home at six each night, she makes dinner for Aya and herself while making a great conversation and ensuring that her sister is having a good day. Suddenly, Aya's phone rang. It was her best friend Megami on the other line. "Hello." Aya said as she took the call. "Hey Aya, I just wanted to let you know that Yuna tried calling me just a few minutes ago. I was in the shower, so I didn't answer. I know it was her because she left a very bizarre voicemail." Aya pressed the record button to capture Yuna's words on audio. "She said that she would do very violent things to us if she runs into us again. She says that she would kidnap us and try to torture us in her attic if she hears us talking about her. I think she means very violent torture." As the words stopped, Aya ended the recording. "So I don't think this is enough evidence to use against her yet, so we should keep on doing what we are doing. We should wear our disguises tomorrow so that she doesn't beat us up or anything." megami said with a scared voice. The girls wrapped up their conversation, and then hung up shortly afterwards. Her sister knew that she was in a bad mood because of the news, but didn't bother to ask her what was up. Instead, she made her smile by singing her favorite song which was Here's To Never Grow Up by Avril Lavinge. Shortly afterwards, the spaghetti was done and ready to eat. Her sister already took the garlic bread out of the oven, and it was sitting in a bowl. Spaghetti was Aya's favorite food of all time, so she was very excited to see that Hanako was making some. As the girls ate their food, the oldest girl turned on some jazz music to go with the beautiful dinner set up. Hanako Onishi's phone began to ring as she put the Parmesan cheese back in the fridge. It was Tokyo Hospital, the hospital where their dad was staying in. "Hello. This is Hanako Onishi speaking." Hanako said with a concerned voice. "Hello. This is Dr. Murakami. I'm afraid to tell you that your father just died a few minutes ago. We tried everything we could to help him, but it was no use. I'm sorry." When the conversation ended, Aya's sister spread the bad news. "I guess we are orphans now." Aya cried. "We are, but we'll try to make it work and move forward." Hanako said as she cried as well. Despite being very sad about their father's death, the sisters tried not to cry and followed their normal schedule. The last time their father spoke to them, he said "If something ever happens to me, I want you girls to have a memorial of me...not a funeral. I want you to celebrate me, and I want you to stay happy while remembering me. I want you to laugh and giggle as you think of our brightest moments. No matter what happens, I will be with you in spirit." The next day, Aya was driven to her school by her sister. They were jamming out in the car on the way there. "Aya sweetie, you can tell your friends the bad news. However, please remember what Dad said to us the last time we saw him. Tell your friends that too, so they don't start crying as well." Hanako said as Aya got out of the car in the parking lot. After the Onishi sisters waved at each other, Aya's sister drove off to her destination. Aya met up with her friends at the fountain in front of the school. "Hey girls. I have some bad news for you. brace yourself." Aya said as she sat down on the bench in front of the fountain. "What is it?" The girls asked with sad looks. "My father died last night. The doctor called Hanako, and then she gave me the bad news. They tried to save him, but it was no use." The girl said while wiping her eyes and holding back tears. Her friends gave her hugs to show sympathy, but then Aya said "Don't cry girls. He wants us to remember him and the happy moments. He wants us to laugh when we think about him and all the good times we shared. He will be with us in spirit, and he wants us to throw a memorial for him...not a funeral service." The girls walked into the school talking about cheerful things. They were all dressed in their disguises, and no one asked why. Instead of going about their normal routine, they set themselves up around the school so they can spot Yuna and her next move. Yuna usually hangs out in the school plaza, in her classroom, and in the art club room. It was time to spy on her, and take action if they see her doing something out of the ordinary.
