Would I feel so damaged in me?

If I’d never- had to have known

Would damage have to agree?

If I wasn’t so fucked up and sewn

 

And would you have to believe

If I came broken and blown

Would you care to relieve?

Broken, if he came here alone

 

Could brownest eyes then conceive?

This person may be a loan

Would strongest man- then just leave?

Or take him on; stepping stone

 

Would he be so naïve?

To have been quickly- taught how to moan

In empty space at your feet

On knees in front of your throne

 

He’d cower like you and weave;

Shattered knee to the bone

And finally learned to achieved

What’s never found on your own

That last line, had so much power in it; it was like everything was leading up to it, building up to it, and then when it got there it had all the power it deserved. The idea behind it, is quite thoughtful actually. This one was really nice.

The last stanza really is powerful. I like the questioning and the just the last resort for mercy. As much as biology matters, it's our environments that shape us, and sometimes it hurts us even more. Really talented writing!

nurture not nature..I agree! We are systematically taught sometimes unintentionally habits that our parents have or society has seemed fit to flog us with its righteous ideals..oh..dont get me started..
