We Run

A Chapter by Octob3r Star
"

April 9 Years Gone. Based on True Events.

"

Kim - “Your father wouldn't do that to her, so stop lying!”

Octob3r - “Stop calling him my father!”

Kim - “He is your father, why do you need to do this?”

Octob3r " “She’s stuck in that room, right now; been there for four years!”

Kim " “That’s her choice…”

Octob3r " “Her choice!? Are you f****n’ blind?! She’s your daughter!”

(((Kim takes a shot of Vodka then sips water)))

Octob3r " “I’m gettin’ her out.”

Kim " “Don’t do anything you’ll regret, Josh…”

Octob3r " “F**k you.”

(((Octob3r slams the trailer door and leaves)))

Later that night… 10 O’clock PM - Central Standard Time, April 15th, 2003

We Run

Moonlight peers between the cracks in the cardboard

Her room deemed silent, her nerves lay pressed

Body’s fetal; head rested under the protection of the lord

Emotions entirety is drained into an elusive stillness

…butterfly and I will no longer be requiring your protection

And as I jump, she jumps to

Runs with every step, unglued

There’s hesitation and I find in you

Freedom, in only dreams pursued

Front door, masked with anxious charm

Vivid recollections of a violent memory

Plunged, from step to step unarmed

Following close in swift trajectory

Fuming fast, not far behind

A mother’s heart cry’s wildly for shelter

Kindred thoughts, that once were blind

Cursed because we couldn’t help her

Door latched from further retaliation

In bended knee, peering out into darkness

Knife steady for an immediate altercation

Fled free, with impeccable sharpness

So ready, steady

We run swiftly, carrying ourselves up the mass

So petty, sweaty

Our uncertainties, reflected from the hand glass

Trembling

We run feet first into darkness, into our future,

Hooked on and hell bent for destruction

We run because there isn't another option;

because we are no longer protected by grace

We run into the arms of life

We run

^Damn, I need to read the stories. Honestly, I certainly am very curious, dying to read the story, what happened on April 15, 2003. Poetry wise, I'm quite blown away by your flawless writing, every word just made for where it was placed, the meaning so deep, the structure and rhyming just perfect for the adrenaline-filled poem. I want to read the complete story, and I will, when I get time. As of now, all I can understand is that thunder here, some desire to be free, and that desire so powerful, I loved the little intro at the start, and the whole poem. I enjoyed this thoroughly.

Wow, this is so intensely emotional! I sense you pouring your heart out as writing should be. I feel it. I write entirely too. Nice work! I am moved. :)

I like this, although I have not read the previous chapters. I know how it is to love someone who is in so much pain they are unreachable, and this is what your chapter brought to mind. I lost a dear friend to suicide 7 years ago - the line "hooked on and hell bent for destruction" sums up his last few months on earth completely. "butterfly and I will no longer require your protection" is a somehow haunting line - I will have to start at the beginning soon! Good write, thank you so much.
