Insomnia

Insomnia

A Poem by Olumegbon

Sleep has robbed my peace,
My restless soul entrapped in my awaken body,
My eyes glued to the ceiling,
My thoughts are blank,
My mind still can't rest.

Have I wronged time,
It slowly mocks my misery,
The night shines in its prime,
The bed murmurs,
I've abused its surface,
The pillow is depressed,
It listened to all my worries.

Suddenly the clock ticks loud,
Morning has driven the night out,
I'm surprised but ecstatic,
Busy day ahead,
precipitously, the night cometh,
Fear overshadows me.
Will I sleep or not.

Insomnia is brutal. I experienced it for a very long time after my mother died. Even now, it creeps up on me some nights. You display it wonderfully in this piece. Write on! :)

I used to feel the same way. Dreading the night when it came and not sleeping as a result. I know the feeling all to well. My sympathies to you and hope you find a way to sleep well soon.
