Bush

Bush

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

So easy for politicians!

"

Bush

You sparked a riot with mere words,

started a war with a rhetorical spew

of untrue, insane hatred.

You used the oldest tricks in the book

to stir up fear and unrest.

Then you sent in the troops;

young men sent to defend

the lies you spread without remorse.

Other nations were drawn in,

conned into spilling the blood

of their own children.

Lives were lost

and many people left broken.

The repercussions have risen

like a tsunami

and have washed across the middle east

leaving a black stain

that will not easily

be washed out.

Well, as an American, I couldn't stop myself from stopping by to read this. Sadly, I must agree with you and I grieve over the catastrophic effect of Bush's war(s) on the world today. My fear is that generations to come will pay for it. You have summed it up in a powerful and visual way. The image of the tsunami and the indelible black stain on the Middle East is chilling.

John, you do know that Bush was following orders. I'm sure you do. Still, ya, the s**t is deep and I like your style, sir.

Money and power talks but it is always the ordinary people who suffer. Many thanks Lynn
Sorry to have to say this because I respect you as a poet, but it really bothers me when people who do not live in the United States pass judgement on our politics. However, because we ARE the United States, we allow this sort of expression much more than other countries do. Lydi

It seems to be the pattern of each president we have now... never seems like anything good comes out... just empty promises and evil to support the hidden truths. Good work :)

yes! John, we all know that black stain and this man did more than most to stir the pot, sending the young and brave to die for the invisible weapons of mass destruction, your poem tells it like it is and you wrote it so well :)

Thanks Richard
it`s always the young men and women that suffer from the greed and pompous attitudes
of our leaders that we so blindly put in office to screw over us

Indeed WM. Many thanks
I know you chose Bush and that as well as having blood on his hands, he is symbolic of ALL those who jump on the bandwagon of greed and profiteering through peoples grief. So many are behind the scenes with money signs in their eyes instead of people's well-being in their hearts.
Hopefully one day we will all look back on this as one of the darkest periods of human history - one from which we emerged (eventually) with love for our fellow man as the mainstay over profit.
Thought stirring piece John.

I fear this is the beginning - we are only going into this tunnel.
Nice flow and content. Much will be written in history about this time and fingers will be pointed in many directions.
