A Passing Glimpse

A Passing Glimpse

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

A moment in time.

"

As if by chance

my emotions

are brushed

by a feather

of desire.

A bouquet

of passing fancy

wafts on the breeze

and turns my head.

And there,

in sight,

a vision of beauty

as you emerge

from the shadows

of my dreams .

You the picture

of soft peach,

of ripe fruits

of Indian dresses

and soft warm kisses.

But here I am

transfixed,

unable to

move,

held in the vice

of possibilities

as I watch you fade

into yesterday,

merely a glance.

You use vivid details to paint this vision & again, I love your penultimate verse which sings with original imagery. At my "advanced age" & "standoffish disposition" . . . I've accepted that the truly manly hunks are only going to stop by to visit my imagination, but not so much me, in the flesh! *wink! wink!* My current love life is always a fleeting thing just like you describe! No only a poor substitute for mutual desire skin to skin!
A glance that inspires in a moment in time. Your words floated off the page with beautiful images in this romantic poem. Nicely done

That:s all it takes, a fleeting glance to set the emotions in full flow. Beautiful imagery and so romantic. Nicely penned John.

An apt title - a mere glance is all it takes, it can evoke imagination, desires, emotions and everything to come to fore from our hidden depths of our hearts. All through, beautiful expressions.
This one read so much like in movies; I could just instantly picture it in my head.

Thank you John, a very flowing saga of beauty in a glance.

This one may be referring to an actual person who is no longer with us. After telling us of this vision's delights, she fades "into yesterday." But she lives on, if only in memory.

One cannot appreciate beauty without death/loss. The fact that we only have so much time to appreciate it makes it all the more precious.

Indeed that is often true Kari. Many thanks for reading.
Dreams always have that habit of taking you to that nice place, and just when you think you're there you wake up. Still, good thoughts mind you, and you can't get arrested for that.

Simply divine -- a sweet moment in time when all our dreams and desires converged in one split second into an image of a stranger passing by and fill our hearts with endless yearnings for something we want but will never happen...made me wistful...:)
