Death

Death

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

We are haunted.

"

You, keeper of the clocks,

have power.

Immense and awesome power

as you sweep in cloaks of darkness

across the cold folds

of the earth.

You hold in your gnarled fist

the future, the past

and the present,

and would do with it

as you will.

And we,

your prey,

would but kneel before

such majesty

in the hope that we,

the unworthy,

might live

just one more

cycle of the moon.

Gee
Tis amazing how time seems to pass at different speeds depending on the situation we find ourselves in. I have had days thatched like weeks and vice versa.
My own life's clock is at least 3/4 of the way run and I'm hoping it will slow a little to allow me the chance to see my daughter married and settled with kids :)
Enjoyed the read.
Hope you are well.

A haunting and beautiful poem. I really enjoyed this one and the last lines of it. The way you described death felt like you pulled it right out of my mind.

My pleasure!
The clocks are ticking and it appears John that you are hearing them loudly. Don't wind them up. I stopped wearing a watch years ago :)) Strong and descriptive write. Many of a certain age will understand this feeling all too well.

Well why I ask would one be so haunted by death after a life rejuvenating vacation? The only way to keep death at bay is to be happily alive!
