Listening To Dust

Listening To Dust

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Came to me from the title of Jacobs most recent post!

"

Shooosh!

Can you hear it?

The sound of space,

the universe

as silent as stealth,

as quiet as a church.

But if you really listen

you can hear

an almost inaudible

sound.

A sort of background

shush,

a faint echo

of life

as it is sprinkled

across the cosmos,

forming the seeds

of creation.

Even tho your poem is about the sound of outer space, I can't help but to read it as the sound of wilderness, since I'm surrounded by it. There are parallels to space -- the way it can be numbingly quiet compared to what most people live around, but in this profound quietness there's a ton of sound everywhere! I read your poem as an invitation to look at the things we perceive as being featureless or disappointing or dark -- and open up to the many sparks of possibilities (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

The whole construct of earth and space and heaven (or not) is simply intriguing Chris. Many thanks.
I love listening to NASA recordings technically sound does not travel in a vacuum yet these tiny pockets of gasses create noise and radio waves are created as well:/ what a great observation of space dust those tiny pockets of sound are oft generated by the coalescing of matter to form stars and planets ergo life:) nicely penned good sir

One of your best. Silence is a great friend to some, but a massive enemy to others who don't understand how important it is.

Thanks Andrew. Creation is out there still and has some surprises in store for us!
Strange how silence freaks you out.
Mind you, when the silence is broken that usually freaks you out too.
