The Woods At Night

The Woods At Night

A Poem by Dara

Smoke from the campfire drifts high overhead

the coals burning brightly in shades of red;

a babbling brook and a gentle breeze

with shadows growing deep

behind tall leafy trees.

the crackling of twigs and the rustling of leaves

the white tailed deer beginning to feed;

the moon is rising shining it’s light,

all is peaceful and calm

in the woods this night.

beautiful poem. love the details. made me feel I was there.
I've never known the joy of spending the night in the woods, under the stars. heck, I've never been to any woods, come to think of it.

Oh you don't know what you are missing :-) I am honored you felt like you were though. Thank you!
This is just lovely. I spent so much of my youth in the outdoors, exploring the creeks and woods and sleeping under the stars. I guess I'm too old and wimpy to do it now, but at least I can still go in my imagination--especially so when someone leads me there as you have.

There is nothing like it! I am glad my poem brought you there :-)
Beautiful! I enjoyed it even though I hate the woods and I've never been camping LOL. I thought about going "glamping" once but I'd be terrified at night. Great poem though!

Thank for your wonderful comment. I love the term "glamping" :-)
