Sister Moon

Sister Moon

A Poem by Dara
"

This is a repost in memory of my son’s mother/in-law.

"
Loving mother nature’s child
giving freely never idle;
sing to me your celebratory tune
of happier times, dear Sister Moon.

When children laughed and played all day
while we sat back and watched and prayed
with hands that caressed and held them close
and knew the love we wanted most.

Loving mate and natural mother,
one of them outweighs the other.
Our children’s love is what we need;
to watch them grow and then succeed.

While yearning for the ties that bind
we have their love, the richest kind.
So sing your song oh Sister Moon
and share with me your joyful tune.

Parents and their protection are the greatest shield for a child. The love, care, tenderness, and the support are reflected in your every word. There are only parents who don't wait for a return. You've drawn those serene moments of family beautifully. Also the rhyme makes the read so pleasant. Thank you for sharing this wonderful work, dear poet.

Very tender and loving verse revealing a deep appreciation and empathy. Family is a wonderful anchor like the roots of a tree. Unfortunately, sometimes we must weigh anchor to sail. Wolfe said, You can't go home again, but I think maybe you can...it doesn't mean that "home" will be the same or mean the same, though. I know since my own mother passed, the old homeplace just doesn't seem the same. I enjoyed your poem. F.

A beautiful tribute here Dara. Your stanzas I found touching to read. Reflections on times gone by, but remembered with love and affection. Motherhood, such a gift. Our children’s love is what we need. So very true. Have a happy Easter.
