And Then There Were Four

And Then There Were Four

A Poem by Dara
"

For all those who have been fortunate enough to love a pet, especially a dog.

"
They playfully gather
And wait for me
At the Rainbow Bridge
Running wild with glee.
No more pain or misery
They are now made new
And souls are free.
“It won’t be too long,
My sweet puppies.”
Griffey, Bailey, Lola
and now Abbey.

Author's Note

Dara
I wrote this in memory of my four dogs who I loved dearly. Abbey just passed away yesterday from cancer. She was only three years old.

Fortunate enough, indeed. How fortunate we are to have their love, with their life in such brief contrast to our own. That one sweet day will come, when Griffey, Bailey, and Lola will follow Abbey's lead... straight into your loving arms!

Just as we exchange love between our human families, our animals are part of that relationship, aware of human moods, enjoying laughter and games. curling over feet or snugging hands draped here or there as if to share love and warmth in that special way that our four legged darlings do. Your poem is so sad, yet shows the deep love you shared with Abby and your other truly memorable loves. I'll always love my dear guardian, angel, buddy, Slith. Beautifully tender and sincere words, (my friend).

Sorry to hear about your loss. Pets can be more family than a blood relative. Lovely read and write.

You're welcome, and it's great to be here! :-)
I love this poem. And I feel the love you still have for your four dogs. I'm sorry to hear about dear Abbey. She was so young . My condolences to you because I know what it feels like. I was also fortunate like you to enjoy the experience of dogs. Three of them at one point. There's something truly magical about them, I'm sure you agree. When you look in their soulful eyes you see the wisdom they have. Cherish those memories and what's important is to remember that they felt loved by you. Great poem.
