Little Man

Little Man

A Poem by Dara

Little man

as you sit upon

your shiny throne on wheels,

I try to imagine what it’s like

to know just how it feels.

Depending on

the help of others

to clothe and feed you each day

takes a special personality

to live and love that way.

I know you're here for a reason

that God put his mark on you,

a young ‘Man for all Seasons’

in what you say and do.

I watch your face slowly light up

as you sit and proudly sing

your songs of praise

and endless love

like “Take Me to the King”.

From where you sit and observe the world

I wonder what you are thinking.

Do you see it like many do,

a ship that’s rapidly sinking

or do you picture in your mind

a place full of love and grace,

where people here are mostly kind

reflecting the love

 on Jesus’ face.

Thank you so much. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Very sweet and reverent. How magnificent a statement it makes about you for writing it. From the times I've convalesced after major surgery, I experienced just a fragment of what it's like to need constant care and not be able to do for one's self. Hopefully, this little man still found joy in life.
