The Man in the Moon

The Man in the Moon

A Poem by Dara

Early one morning

before the sun started to rise

I peered through the darkness

with droopy lids and sleepy eyes.

I gazed out my window

when to my wondering eye

I saw the moon still shining

 lighting up the sky.

I was in awe of its beauty

so lovely  full and so serene

and basked in the glow of the

 ethereal soft blue beams.

Then I said a prayer

for lasting peace on earth,

while to the man in the moon I gave a wink

and his face lit up with mirth.

Dara
As I child I would always try to find the face of the "man in the moon". Of course it was only a fantasy but I would make a wish anyway. The photo was one I captured at 4:00 one morning.
