Chopin Autumn Nocturnes

Chopin Autumn Nocturnes

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Acorn Caps and falling leaves in gold and red

"
It's that time of year when we don our
Acorn Caps and walk through Autumn melodies
of falling leaves in a Chopin nocturne of
Mango madness and sunset glow of
Tango tenderness...

The wind blows in waves of lovely
A cappella voices in colors of every
Native American...
The Sequoia trees and Maple trees with
sugar infused gold and red
falling in the breeze...

Silhouettes of geese in
formation fly over meadows of
bundled hay where
horses and cattle play...

Apples fall gently to the ground
gathered up for pies and cider...
Time for Barn Dances... Swing your partner
round and round...

"Mairzy doats and Dozy doats
And liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too,
wouldn't you?"

Quote:
(Song written and composed by
Milton Drake, Al Hoffman, and
Jerry Livingston 1943)

How utterly enchanting, Pat! Your opening verse "of falling leaves in a Chopin nocturne" set the stage for the rest to follow, and what a pageantry of refined brilliance it is. Your dance of nature and poetry go hand in hand to compliment the majestic colors of the Sequoia and Maple trees. And the geese, flying over meadows...what rapture! One of your best, and an instant favorite for me!

I found great pleasure in this picture in words, bringing back memories of the glory of Fall in VA. I have just returned from Hungary and Serbia, where the air is still warm and the leaves still sport their beauty. Here in South Wales, the wind and the rain have blown in over the Atlantic, their a cappella sounds mad with ecstasy as they strip the trees and dance a wild tango with the yielding branches.

Your words have conjured up an inner nostalgia, as, like you, I stir under the quilt, dreaming of the warmth of summer as it slips away.

Love the colours, flavours and tastes you bring alive in your words Patricia. Your description of natures dance ending in a barn dance of your own is clever, but please explain to me why I am now craving mulled wine :)

The grandeur and magnificence of nature comes to life and dances through your lines here, Pat. I could see the leaves turning and almost smell an apple pie baking in the oven. Love that you ended with the words from that old song. A pleasure to read you. Lydi**

Having read this twice, i love the way your words go from this or that cluster of sound and sights. It's how the third season is for me when a sudden gust of wind or playful breeze sweeps fallen Autumn leaves into a dancing cloud of colour! You've sent me on a beautiful jaunt, Pat, enjoying the charm of your thoughtful, gentle character.
