A Dozen Scented Sunset Roses

A Dozen Scented Sunset Roses

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

As an amber orange Sun sets in the West...

a peaceful glow bows to the day and the virtue thereof

where Sunset Roses rest in a Vase with petals soft and

unaffected by the celebration of years spent in romantic

symphonies of persuasion where the scent of love invades

the depth of interpretation when lovers sleep in provocative

dreams and wander in distant meadows of moonbeams...

I dedicate this poem to my King of the Castle.... Roger Arthur...

WOWZA! This is an awesome tribute to your hunny! I love how you portray "love" as something very complex & beautiful, nothing to trifle with! Cherrie wrote something about moonbeams, which I just read, & she mentioned your poem being an inspiration to her. Then she gave me the great idea of combining moonbeams with surfing, since I'm a Cali girl. So, I'm jerking around the synapses to see what shakes out about moonbeams, so I can share this timely trend with the harvest moon coming up & soon after that a BLUE MOON (it only happens once in a blue moon -- end of October!) My favorite phrase of your poem: "symphonies of persuasion" -- I know nothing about long-term love, but I would imagine this is the key that unlocks every door -- and I don't mean only the bedroom door, I mean all the ways a couple must compromise for the greater good -- that's a skill I haven't pursued much! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I just read your poem... so exquisite. I will post a review. Gently, Pat
The scene is set from the get go as the opening lines take the reader into that sun soaked room and shows them the roses sitting in the rays. There is indeed romance and yet passion too sewn into this warm love quilt.

I really enjoyed the imagery and sentiment of this poem. The poetry has a lingering shadow of prose that I like. Beautifully explained and expressed. Tyfs
