Pinecones are soft as a Puppy waiting for Snow

So many Nuthatches with blue wings   

wearing a black Stetson waiting for the Band... 

A Line Dance forms with moves to hynotize 

the Eyes of the Beholder when shuffles memorize 

the words that bring Country Music to the Stage 

where Boots express the sensuality of Persuasion 

on the Occasion of a beautiful Rendezvous of Passion... 

dedicated to all the Cowboys who Rode away-- but 

One stayed for greener Pastures were on the dance floor

Hmmm...is this about birds or cowboys? I love how the images twist together, and such a small thing (a bird) becomes the embodiment of something much larger. I love country music. It is the soundtrack of my childhood. The image of birds doing the Boot Scootin' Boogie is going to stay with me. (Btw, if I haven't mentioned it, I lived in Fredericksburg when I was in elementary school.)

dearest Zoe... they say that .. before they built the Mall, most of the Stores for shopping were in "olde town" Fredericksburg. Now there are Antique Shops and Bill Becks Antique Books. At one time about twenty years ago, Bill Beck was Mayor of Fredericksburg for a few years. I use to walk my Miniature Pincher "Angel" on Caroline Street and Princess one Street. Of course, we have a Horse and Buggy (privately-owned to write with our Grandchildren and learn about the haunted houses an a few stories of the Civil War... which is written up in many Books. The War between the States was not a "good thing". Somehow what our Nation is going through in Politics is somewhat similar. What needs to be done.. is to keep the History in our School.. and our President and all "his men" should prepare additional Amendments to the Constitution to deal with "keeping our Constitution and perhaps having another "Statue of Liberty" like the one sent from France where Immigrants have to be documented and accounted for ignorer to "study" our By-Laws to follow in order to be a Citizen. I pray earnestly that there "Immediately" be a Lady with a Torch Statue and professional people to do an accounting and picture ID's .. before they study to become a Citizen. There is no need to "destroy" our Constitution... we simply need to prepare an Amendment to Protect our Soverenty . It was a Great Mistake to promise so much "for free" at our expense with our hard-earned Tax Money. As far as my poem... people need to dance and write poetry and compose Music in order to Keep a Balance.... including our Leaders. Thank you Zoe for such a kind and benevolent review. tenderly, Pat

When I lived there (early 70s), my parents used to joke that George Washington once said he would return to Fredericksburg, and they weren't changing a thing until he got back. Everything was preserved as it was in the 1700s. I was little, so I don't remember a great deal. But I do remember visiting every battlefield and historic site in a 200 mile radius. Unfortunately, on our trips to DC the only thing we could get near was the Smithsonian. Everywhere else was crammed with Vietnam protesters and impeach Nixon rallies. I cut my teeth on politics and history, and it is a shame to see so much of it being treated to shameful revisions. I would amend the Constitution to say, "Thou shalt only teach the facts." Your new governor seems to be of the same mind. I'm watching his administration with approval!

dearest Cherrie… Blue-winged Birds represent intense happiness .. so I had to include their presence in this poem. It started snowing around Six am .. and I have been tossing around the idea of the blue-winged Nuthatcher being a Winged Goddess who casts a Spell on the dancing Cowboys. I realize I am a Novice in Poetry; however I do appreciate your including the feathered dancers in your Review. I suppose this Winter Storm will cover the ground with faith, Hope and Charity for the Sojourners crossing our Borders. Prayers for a better Future. Gently, Pat

dearest Chris… Dancing has been seducing Lovers since Time began… Country line dancing is provocative and the Snow is now falling like Manna from Heaven. Roger and I met in 1987 at Bronco Billy’s Country Dance where romance was in the Air. Line dancing is an Art and encompasses the Art of Cowboys with Staten Hats breaking many 💕 Hearts. The movement of Boots on a Wooden dance floor has enticed many a Heart to fall like Snowflakes on a New Years Celebration. tenderly, Pat

barbara and I did the line dancing thing at a wedding.
Neither of us had ever done it, but we both loved dancing so much...we caught on and then were
teaching others how to do it.
It was a blast...and I did it without wings.

dear Jacob... I can just imagine you and. Barbara line-dancing... it is so Cool. I wish I could Jitterbug... and move every muscle to the music. I have seen the Grooms Mother Jitterbug at her son's wedding reception. She really had the Jitterbug under Control.
