When Spring was Green and Butterflies fluttered

When Spring was Green and Butterflies fluttered

A Poem by Patricia Wedel

In the midst of Winter Snow amongst the Cedar Trees
there were the most beautiful White Breasted
Bohemian Waxwing Sweethearts...
They gathered Red Berries for a night of Feather Fights...
The Moon and Stars were ready for a Shakespearean performance...
As the curtain went up the Stars sang Hallelujah and the Moon smiled...
The Wine of Red Berries was intoxicating and feathers fluttered while
Stars danced like Butterflies sipping the remains of the Wine...
Begin the Bequine brings back a memory when Spring was Green...

ahh those halcyon days of yore, sublimely captured here for anyone & everyone to find & to savour .. perfectly placed on the back of a pair of Bohemian Waxwings .. I have never seen one in the flesh Pat .. but am familiar with them as a species and can not imagine one without a red berry in its bill or very near ......... well penned my friend

You are so welcome!
Three days of staring at the white 😤😤😤😤.
Spring feels like a distant memory. Am I ever going to be warm again? Afraid I wouldn't know a waxwing if it pecked me in the nose!
Beautiful words, Ma'am.

Gee
Spring is still but a dream away as winter drags it cold, miserable feet.
This brilliantly descriptive piece lightens the mood though Patricia

There's such a glorious feel to your words, Pat.. think they might be my favourite of your sweet thinking! You've wrapped Nature's gifts around Life's glories and finished with hymn or song or blessing - all together perhaps!

' They gathered Red Berries for a night of Feather Fights...
The Moon and Stars were ready for a Shakespearean performance...
As the curtain went up the Stars sang Hallelujah and the Moon smiled... ;'

Thank you so much for sharing, '. Hugs and luv to both you and Roger.. stay safe. Please. x

Bit of a masterpiece and an absolute pleasure to read
I am beginning to wonder if Spring will be our only purely enjoyable season but no matter what season, they will have difficulty being as much of a pleasure as your poetics always are

I love your playful poem Pat; those lovely birds plus the moon and the stars create an amazing performance; their red berries gathered, nourish them during winter months... all were intoxicated by the red wine from the berries... very magical and ethereal this is my dear, love it!
