I Wanna Be……..

 

In the pursuit of happiness,

I wanna be……..

 

Ruthless not toothless,

Brazenly bold not too freaking old!

Prophetic not apologetic,

On a constant climb not sadly, sadly…out of time

 

And along the way, 

I wanna be……..

 

A free-thinking mind not a 9 to 5 grind,

A mountain stream not a nasty little scheme,

A mind-blowing creator not a one-dimensional hater,

A vision harvesting trawler not a closed mind stonewaller.

 

And I wanna be,

 

A summit topping explorer not a local bar brawler,

A disco ball not a drunken fall,

A creamy stout not an Instragram pout,

A righteous man not a driving ban.

 

And I wanna be,

 

A break dancer not a human cancer,

A Hollywood movie thriller not a long-faced buzz killer,

A flashing techno strobe not a bigoted xenophobe,

A steadfast and loyal friend not a gutter dwelling f*g end.

 

And I wanna be,

 

A real live wire not a lowdown sneaky liar,

A honest straight shooter not a shady joy looter,

A whispered kind word not a smelly, stinking t**d,

A fun-loving soul not a miserable a***hole.

This is my son's first poem so I thought I'd post it on here.
