Wings

Dedicated to people who keep hurting you because of their selfish needs.

I want to fly, but in vain,

Trying only brings me pain,

Free spirit is what I need,

Yet I always manage to bleed.

You bring me down, on the Earth,

Saying I still may have some worth,

How come I don't see it then,

And still get so hurt again?

I am not what I've been before,

Lies you tell don't hurt me no more,

So it's up to you to deal with that,

Or just keep being a selfish brat.

Let me go and grow some wings,

I need to cut loose my strings,

Set off to a world far away,

And leave this whole place so gray.

I wrote this in literally 5-10 minutes. I don't know where it came from, but I'm glad it did.

It perfectly explains how others sometimes hold you back from what you want to do. They keep you from "growing your wings" and taking off on your own. Beautiful. :)
