The Dance of Sun and MoonA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe
Dance of Sun and Moon
Mourning breaks, Life wakes. Flowing lakes Give way.
Journeying the invisible rope, The sun climbs to dismiss shadows. Awash is the blue sky where clouds roam ‘Til returning home.
The sun meets The new day in a greet. Birds generously tweet A song sweet.
High above, The cosmos way up… For years, many thereof Have weightlessly hung.
The sun slowly descends As shadows are lent Yawning from a long day spent, It’s at the evening’s end.
“Sleep tight.” says the moon As the sun slips into a peaceful snooze, And once more it dutifully looms… “I’ll take over for you.”
