Colors !

Colors !

A Poem by Raghib

Colors are just rejected lights,
Is that why they are so glorified.
What glory is their in rejection ?
Yet we find houses decorated with it.
See the blackness surrounding the world,
No room for any acceptance.
It glorifies none but itself,
A beauty that it originally posessed.
I wince at people celebrating colors,
A beauty borrowed material indeed.
For its essence does lie in rejection,
Then why glorify the rejected ?
I keep my eyes surrounded by the dark,
No avarice is shown by it.
Its nature is without deception,
A beauty it originally posessed.

An unusual work that seemingly disparages colors in favor of darkness. The poet say colors are just rejected lights, so why glorify them? There is no evidence offered for the rejection thesis, so I don't understand the dissatisfaction. The poet says no avarice is offered by the darkness, but I can't find any avarice offered by colors, either. Perhaps the poet sees avarice differently than I do.

Intenseand speaks volumes. Dark, dramatic and a great point of view of looking at life in general and expressing ones feelings.

Hello Raghib....this an extraordinary poem...I felt some deep emotion in poem. I think it an abstract poem where you want to express your feelings through using the object light. It made me question about the perception I have about the light. Also I feel like you have some behind the story of this poem if you can share then it might help me to understand your perspective more clearly.

Humans are so very limited when it comes to the perception of not just the light spectrum but pretty much everything else. We live inside our minds most of the time, we perceive things from a place of great comfort.

In reality, we have no clue what is really going on beyond our personal lives. Though we like to pretend we do, and entire news networks have made billions upon billions pretending they do as well.

I'm not really sure if that is totally relevant to your poem but it is with respect to how I perceived it.

I liked it, even if I didn't get it I ended up thinking of interesting things none the less. Can't really ask for too much more than that.

I liked and enjoyed your thoughts. I agree with your logic. Colors and appearance can be over-rated.. Nature is natural and so beautiful. Thank you Raghib for sharing the amazing poetry.

Obviously! So...... There's a saying in one of my text book " Light said I'm so bright, Darkness said only because I exist right!"
