Let Me Be Alone With Me

Let Me Be Alone With Me

A Poem by Rain
"

I love life/I love people. When alone I think of both. The noise of life can be overwhelming. It is in solitude I can see and understand things more clearly..

"
i wish i was
a bird with wings
to sail above
everything
high above
the homeless camps
broken people
exit ramps
take my chances
above the clouds
look down upon
the weary crowds
let me glide
above it all
the greed and hate
the shopping mall

because i don't need a lover
i don't need a friend
i don't need you to lie for me
hold my hand or pretend
i want to ride upon the breeze
let it guide my destiny
i just need a heart i know
let me be alone with me

i wish i was
a bird with wings
looking down
on wedding rings
pushed in back
of musty drawers
with musty dreams
of moon lit shores
i want to fly
beyond the sight
of everyone
who hurts for spite
above the wars
fought for greed
a world that's lost
it's dignity

because i don't need a lover
i don't need a friend
i don't need you to lie for me
hold my hand or pretend
i want to ride upon the breeze
let it guide my destiny
i just need a heart i know
let me be alone with me

"pushed in back

"a world that's lost
it's dignity"

This sums up the necessity for moments of solitude, to let us get above it all, forgetting all our woes and minor worries and look down upon the world as a whole. Excellent.

The comment about a world that's lost it's dignity is so fitting, one of the reasons we need to escape. Nothing is sacred or private any more.

Well done.

as a person long overdue for solitude, and who finally got some this fall and is healing, i appreciate this.
as a person who is sometimes dismayed by humans' treatment of one another and the environment -- and i include myself as part of the sometimes disappointing group -- i appreaciate this.

beautiful, flowing, touching.

Your words are hauntingly beautiful...I think there is something to be said about an individual who can transcend every earthly tie and hover above the misery for a while. I feel your longing in this piece, -it is a deep river that flows slowly and rhythmically. I am always impressed with your work, not merely the poems themselves, but the content and variety of ideas you share with the world. This piece was no exception! Thanks for sharing.

Let the creative "Rain" on all of us. Thank you for showcasing style and substance. This was a great read. An artist that created a song that is how it flowed. I just love your work and I can't highlight everything. Those are my favorite lines in your poem, every single one of them. This doesn't need to be rated. A 100 is not enough. Standing "O" my brother.

wow. this poem hit me like a brick. it hit me on a personal level. oh how i can relate to each word in this piece. "i want to fly
beyond the sight
of everyone
who hurts for spite" this holds such truth, such pure honesty. and the flow is magical. i love how you blend whimsical things and rhyme them with everyday ordinary things like exit ramps and shopping malls. a wonderfully written poem from a very talented writer.

This is truly inspiring!
One of my favorite lines was...
"because I don't need a lover
I don't need a friend
I don't need you to lie for me
hold my hand or play pretend."

Great job!

This is a beautiful piece. I think that sometimes we all feel this way. I often picture myself floating and flying amongst the clouds. There's something freeing about imagining it ... escape is awesome. I love the flow to this, it reminds me of something, but I'm not sure what ...

Just a beautifull poem rain. The imagery is so powerfull that it takes the reader with you on a journey of sadness and hope. Honestly I wish I was a bird so could s**t on those basterds heads that just fired me.

Nicely done, Ray. You took the reader into a world not their own. A change of perspective in flight to let them see your perspective on things through verse. Nicely done.

This is another good bit of writing. Perfect? No, but it doesn't have to be. It just needs to take the reader some place and let them see from your perspective.

Nicely done.

Cheers!
Doc.
