WHY

WHY

A Poem by Candle in the wind

"Why" is a potent word

Just leave it suspended

It can evoke varied responses

anxiety

indignation

exasperation

understanding

answers

explanation

justification

further queries

discomfort

trigger a  spirit of inquiry

or protest

voice moods and concerns

Whether "Why"commences a question

or just an exclamation

or just stands alone

As a single word

Or is repeated

"Why Why why"

The best thing is

When someone knows its flavour

And can satiate that "why"

or atleast understand

Why

Why cant it be so always!

I really liked this and thought it was very creative. You have pushed the lines of normality and knocked the dust off the formal style with this. I love to see a writer work within their own ideas of what is abd should be and not fall victim to trying to force the flow of thoughts into something that has no life of its own. You have written something different and wonderful here.

Great Job!!!!!

There is the element of curiosity and knowledge, but there are many other components to this little word.
It can represent all the feelings/emotions that you mention here. It can get us into a lot of trouble as in indignation, paranoia and protest, however sometimes there is no other answer than 'because!'
I like the way you have put this together, and shown that it is an enquiring word. People do know that, but still ask. (whether they are being rude and invasive or not)
Good one Raj

Ha this was such a great thought provoking piece which you nailed to perfectly. However why, to is is something I ponder about too much at times. So yes, why has such an unbelievable power over so many

Brilliant piece of writing

Exactly. Why... if we make the choices, most of the time we may know why, but what I call 'the fickle finger of fate' sometimes leaves me wondering 'Why?' with such anguish. Well done.

Why exactly! Thought provoking write. Some generations have frowned on the "why"...while others are pleased that it is asked. And then there is the three year old.... :)

thought provoking.

I think the WHY signifies non acceptance of what IS. As humans we like to use our intellect to understand and ratioanlize everything ...which is what leads to the WHY ...
