Ugly

Sometimes I feel I'm ugly

And I really want to cry

Why are the others better than me?

It really makes me sigh

Those other girl with make - up

And unevenly cut hair

Those girls are the only ones

About whom everyone cares

All my friends look much more pretty

I'm the only one who's not

While they have fun and flaunt their looks

I'm the one who's left to rot

There's nothing I can think of

There's nothing I can do

Maybe I really am ugly

And maybe that's the truth

You speak of physical ugliness and outward appearances. I know, I know, fifteen, sixteen-ish boys only care about the outward appearances at that age. I have two boys around that same age and one of them has worked as a model for Hollister. But boys grow up. And boys do, eventually and contrary to popular opinions voiced frequently by the fairer sex, in fact grow up. They become men. Men, real men, see beyond the make-up, false eyelashes, and breast implants. Those things fade away, wither and die in time. But the soul, the beauty that one harbors within their spirit, I don't believe that ever dies. And one day, a real man will see and appreciate that spirited beauty in you. I have no doubt...

Beauty is defined by who we are inside. People can be physically beautiful but still ugly inside .everyone has moments of feeling unattractive ,it's just the way life is.

i know that.. but you still have one tiny corner in your heart which makes you feel a little down when you think about the others being more pretty EXTERNALLY than you are. We can't deny that, can we?

In life it's only natural we compare ourselves to others. Girls are the worst though for comparing themselves to other girls and constantly striving to be the prettiest they can possibly be, but don't focus on trying to be like someone else because you are who you are, It's what makes each and everyone of us special in our own way. No matter how hard you try your never going to be like everyone else you just need to learn to be happy with who you are and focus on the positive things about you that make you who you are. Happiness is not trying to be better than everyone else, It's just being happy and contempt with yourself and appreciating the aspects of you as a person that noone else has, Like being able to write bad a*s poetry ;)

Great poem and really well done!
It really bothers me when people use the word "Ugly" because just because someone
may be absolutely stunning looking doesn't make them beautiful.
Beauty is who we are as a person, our personality is what actually defines us.
And personally, If it's any concellation, I think it would have to take a very beautiful person to write this poem :)
