Mockingbird (Nature's glory)

Mockingbird (Nature's glory)

A Poem by Richard🖌

Chaiku … a Chinese influenced Japanese form (see tutorial in Author's Note). Inspired by Cherrie Palmer's poem "Chilled Wine Warm Kiss" http://www.writerscafe.org/writing/Cherrie_Palmer/399760/

Mockingbird

Come sing your songs

lively and free …

each one its own

atop your tree.

You mesmerize

with no repeats;

miracles of

warbling treats.

You mimic pure

voices of all …

birds, insects -- each

wilderness call.

The mockingbird,

God’s lovely gift

to entertain …

our spirits lift.

Rejoice sweet bird

in endless song,

thrilling one’s soul

the whole day long.

The last stanza:
Rejoice sweet bird
in endless song,
thrilling one’s soul
the whole day long. Sounds so enchanting. Bird tweets are the most peaceful sounds of nature, hearing them in the morning when I just wake up makes me feel good, its a sign of spring and summer because in fall and winter we don't hear them.

I love messages about the natural beauty found in creatures & you've tuned this one like a set of guitar strings. Not familiar with this particular bird, but your word painting helps a reader feel as if it's right out there, doing its thing, enjoying being observed in your poem. Great word crafting! Fondly, Margie

Thank you for advising us on the Chaiku Richard. The images you have posted with your poetry are superb. I love birds but don't know much about the Mockingbird at all. It is not a native of where I reside. However I have learned from your wonderful tribute to this little creature that is can mimic others. All bird song lifts my spirits. I am left thinking what an incredibly clever little thing it is. Thank you for sharing your eloquent and beautiful poetry.

A wonderful tribute to a lovely bird, one of my favorites after making a trip to Australia. Their chirp, if you will, is so very distinctive and full of character. I once had a friend who lived near Perth and we would chat and the birds would be singing in the background. Such beautiful words and flawless form. This will be a keeper for me.

...gorgeous birds! I have nesting mourning doves just outside my window. They (birds) are fascinating creatures to watch. Your poem is such a lovely lament to them, Richard.

I enjoyed the simplicity of this. I don't know if that has anything to do with this from or not. I watch mockingbirds around here and admire them, nothing wimpy about a mockingbird.
