When I wrote it, I was thinking about my father, and how even after 10 years, I can still wake up with him on my mind, for just a second thinking he was still around. Then the harsh reality comes with dawn.

my mom and my dad both passed within the space of 14 months...not too long ago. they still visit me .. read moremy mom and my dad both passed within the space of 14 months...not too long ago. they still visit me in my dreams almost every night. but this also brought memories of vanished romance and that horrible feeling of waking up with a loved one's embrace, only to discover it is your pillow which you are holding onto ...so tightly.
this reminds me of robert creeley, one of my favorite beat poets.
i realize you are no longer beside me...and my eye breaks with the dawn...
so much to this short piece...love it.
