Dance Floor

Dance Floor

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

The best place to go.

"

“In her golden years,” you say

When at first you glance

But you should know my secret:

I always say yes to a dance

Life may have sung me some sorrowful songs

But I’ve never missed a beat

No one can say I sat one out

When my cotillion is complete

Solos, hustles, tangos;

I couldn’t ask for more

When all is said and done,

I’d rather exit from the dance floor.

Author's Note

Rita L. Sev
Recently had a conversation with my mother-in-law about hanging a picture above her bed. Concerned that it was too heavy, she exclaimed, "I'd rather die on the dance floor!" That idea kept playing in my head (and yes, she is an avid dancer).

Thanks, Rose. My MIL is 76 now, and still dances. Pretty amazing.

She really would always rather be dancing. It has kept her quite young at heart. Thank you so much, .. read more
Rita, Rita, Rita you have done it again. I don't think I have read a single thing from you that I haven't loved.

Thanks, Soul!
i think i would too...either there or on a tennis court..

i find no better mode of expression, than moving to the rhythm of the beat of a song.

glad you hung that picture...and then posted this poem.

She plans to go out still in motion. Very wise! Thank you, Jacob!
