Reflections

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

...

"

“You’re not the girl you used to be,”

the mirror says each day to me.

I look her squarely in the eye,

“I’m wiser now,” is my reply.

Thank you, Kimmy. When I wrote it, this felt like nothing more needed to be said.
Short and simple, but with a lot of meaning behind it. Very powerful poem!

Thank you so much, Danielle!
Powerful stuff, except I say "your not the beard your spose to be" I'll get the damn thing to grow one day.
You could go on for ages about this subject, but why bother when two stanzas says it all. Great poem.

Thank you so much, Mel-Rose!
Beautiful work, Rita! To be wiser as a woman instead of a girl; what a dream :P I admire the speaker for her confidence and maturity.

haha I always thought it was best to embrace our inner child :) Your welcome!
A short, to-the-point write demands a short, to-the-point review...I love it :)

Always a pleasure Rita :)
simple and bravely defiant! often times that person in the mirror is the hardest to face every day.

Thank you, Steve!
I like the reply in the second stanza. It shows confidence and knowledge gained through many life lessons. That is a pretty inspiring thing, actually. Realizing how you have changed and embracing the goodness that is there. I like how the speaker in this one overcomes the criticism of the mirror.

Thank you. Yes, the mirror should never have the final say...
