Seeds of Nostalgia

Seeds of Nostalgia

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

It's planting season...

"

Cocoa Pebbles

and Cap’n Crunch,

Monkees, M*A*S*H,

and Brady Bunch,

Rockem Sockem Robots,

Connect Four,

Colored-dot Twister

on the living room floor

Necco Wafers

and zingy Pop Rocks,

Saturday movies

with Doctor Shock,

Reading Laura Wilder’s

Little House Series,

Knowing Mom had an answer

for all of my queries;

I know it now, but didn’t then ~

These days would become my “Remember when”

And years from now, a different list

Will replace this one of good times missed

Because Life in all of its wondrous ways

Gives more than one era of “good old days”

Someone's been feeling a bit nostalgic lately...
I get like this whenever I have another birthday *sigh*.
I don't remember Dr. Shock...but up in Buffalo, some time around the early sixties, there was a program that came on every afternoon during the Christmas season, with Santa Claus and his elves from the North Pole. I used to love that show!
Ahhh, now see, what you've done? You've got me remembering my own "good old days"...

As one chapter closes another begins ! But those nostalgic days remain idelibly imprinted on the memory forever!

Beautiful sentiments from days gone by! So well conveyed and expressed !

Yes, those days remain - as these days will someday... Thanks, Tom!
Loved the way you've paid homage to your favorite nostalgic times. We've all got those special periods in our lives where no matter how much we age we'll always cherish those golden days or decades that we're filled with unforgettable memories of our favorite past times. Great work Rita. A riveting & compelling read. :)

Thank you, BP!
i get this...but i often wonder....my nostalgia goes back many years...i am not so sure if i am still alive 30 years from now...if i will find much to be nostalgic about in these current years...

i liked the old days better...the sixties...

but you sure reminded me of much...back in NY...late at night my sister and i watched "shock theater"--

good memories...and i love capn' crunch.

What a delightful walk down memory lane, Rita. I've never thought about it that way before, but you're right, there are more than one time period in our lives that we recall nostalgically. Anytime before about 10 years ago looks good to me now! I got a kick out of this. Thanks, Rita, I always know I'll come away from your poems smiling.

Glad you could relate! Thank you, Blue!
Ah, a clever poetic nostalgic listing for nostalgist affected by nostomania. I know of some older people who'd have no idea what this list means because they never watched television during that time period.
