Counting Raindrops

Counting Raindrops

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

.

"

I counted the raindrops

on the window

instead of looking through

~ the path beyond was daunting

        a few steps out, obscured

I would not venture out

to splash in the puddles

~ or wait for the sunshine

so I counted the raindrops .

                                                   .

                                                     .

Melancholy and pensive write from your pen Rita....sometimes all we can do is count the raindrops and wait for the rainbow to appear....

And it always does... Thank you, Frieda.
Grab an umbrella, put on those galoshes and open the dang door! That's what I say. Angi~

LOL! :) . . .
A wonderful poem about avoiding the realities that lie beyond the window panes. Sometimes we just need a good diversion.

Exactly. Thank you, Blue.
Good metaphor. There are times in life when we can not jump into tomorrow. We have to be wary and watch what is happening so we know what to expect. Sometimes "counting the raindrops" puts things into perspective. Good one, Rita. Lydi**

Better to count the raindrops inside that try to do it outside.

Ha! You are right, Marie!

so I counted the raindrops .

Eternal Middle class "be safe" psychology portrayed beautifully.

Yes, there is safety in staying inside to count - but nothing great can be accomplished. Thank you,.. read more
Reminds me of those moods when even the simplest task seems daunting.

Exactly. Thanks, Dale.
how many were there?

almost like someone who is agoraphobic ...

once we get used to the rain, it is actually refreshing...but some have so many fears...

and the rain is like watching their own tears...a falling away from society.

Thank you, Jacob. Fear keeps us from doing so much...
Sometimes it is easier to stay hidden in the shadows as we are not quite ready to take the next step. And that place may be a place that offers so much peace that moving beyond it is daunting.
Nice thoughts.....!! We all have our "comfort zone".

Thank you, Sheila. Staying in the comfort zone is sometimes good, but eventually we have to splash .. read more
I take this as counting your blessings that God bestowed on each and every one of us. A powerful poem with a great message. Another take is to live the moments now drop by drop instead of waiting for the puddle ...Thank you for sharing great poetry...:)

I like your take on this, Sami - indeed, my blessings are as numerous as the raindrops... Thank you!.. read more
