Facade

Facade

A Poem by Rita L. Sev

Church bells in the distance toll

Each chime a torment on my soul

Ever-present, doom’s dark clouds

Harbingers of latent shrouds

Floorboards creak a serenade

Life, the Reaper’s masquerade

Very well done. I love the sounds here. You have your usual sharp rhyme but the alliteration in line three really stands out. Sharp and crisp.

Thank you, Steve! Good to see you!
Economy of lines at its best. Quite dark, but I would have it no other way. Excellent write Rita!

Dark and forboding, your words sent a chill down my spine, Rita. Powerful poetry. Lydi**

Thank you so much, Gus. What a kind review!
I liked it Rita but it reminded me of a hard time of hearing a bell toll almost 4 years ago my best friend passed away, Gosh it was so hard that I couldn't go to the grave side, I don't live to far from where he was buried, I heard the sound of the bell being rang for one hour I cried my eyes out hearing that bell ring. We use to ring it for meaness in his time of living and laugh cause it could be heard for miles. But hearing it that day set in deep. Not a day goes by don't miss him, He was like my dad:) Thank you for sharing that Rita:)
