I like the syllable beat - I was going to put "in serenade" instead of "a serenade". Would that work better?

I think just serenade by itself, putting a word in front throws off meter I believe.
The reapers always there amidst life's daily routine...and your authors note is true for me as well. Not sure why this month does that to us..
