Rudolph

Rudolph

A Poem by Rita L. Sev

Rudolph the Red-nosed reindeer ~

too bad he had a shiny nose;

whenever someone saw it,

they instantly became his foes

Santa and all the reindeer

made him feel like such a freak

teasing and ostracizing

because he had a unique beak

Rudolph went out in the snow

alone to face the cold

then he met a dentist elf

and a man who searched for gold

On the Island of Misfit Toys

they spent a restless night;

they found the Bumble in his cave

and outwitted all his might

When they returned to Christmastown

Santa had the nerve

to ask Rudolph for a favor,

and that deer, he vowed to serve

So remember this old story

when you sit upon his lap;

the tale of a selfish Santa

and Rudolph, the red-nosed sap!

Author's Note

Rita L. Sev
Every year, I watch the show "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer", and I am stunned by how mean Santa is in that show. Rudolph is a lot more forgiving than I would be... Oh, and the Island of Misfit Toys? It's really the Island of Santa's Mistakes... :p

Good I am glad Rita:) welcome my dear friend:)
Whilst reading this imaginative take on the old classic Rudolph the red nosed reindeer, I found myself breaking into a familiar, tuneful song !

A cracking Christmas cracker !

Thanks, Tom! The animated movie portrays Santa to be very cruel - it drives me crazy!
Well that is certainly a different twist on the classic...entertaining and certainly can make you think.

Exactly! :) Thanks, Troy!
Sounds like someone's had an overdose of Christmas!
You know, I never did like that show. I'm not too crazy about the New Year one, either.
Now I know why..

LOL! Bumbles bounce! :)
Rudolph got the top reindeer job though. Santa could have made venison burgers out of him if he bitched to much. I think that's Sarah Palin's version of Rudolph. Cute alternate version of Rudolph Rita. Feel free to take a bow

This was great and humorous with message that has the astonishment of the narrator of the real hero now becoming somehow not in this movie. It does not fit the pattern and that is shocking...A splendid holiday poem ...:)...............

wow this put me in the christmas spirit...:)

Donner was always my favorite...but he too was jealous of that nose i think...and he rose not above that jealousy...

it is a humorous piece but at the same time shows us how anyone different is frowned upon because society is judgmental.
