An Epiphany...

Seek

Across the lonely wilderness

Through bleak and barren lands;

Would we journey thus to hold

Great riches in our hands?

 

The treasure looked so very small;

Colossal was its worth

A bundle of the purest love

So rarely found on earth

 

It seems now an abandoned quest

Some say for just the weak

But for this great and perfect wealth

The wise will always seek

Thank you, Sheila! This past Sunday was the last "liturgical" feast of the Christmas season (according to Catholic tradition, and we sang "Joy to the World" one last time before packing it away. Personally, I think we should sing about joy more often... :)

Really loved the rhyme between stanzas and each verse, really made the poem flow efficiently. The use of rehearsal questioning in your case was an absolutely wonderful choice. Also the choice of diction clearly coveys to the audience, and the abstractness gives the free to interpretation concept to your poem. To me it was about the journey of life explained or described on a metaphorical level and the concept of humanity and such. A really splendid poem, really makes the reader consider what the poem means to them. Well done, keep up the good work:)
