Lonliness

Lonliness

A Poem by Riverdance

Even in a crowded room

Lonliness still lingers

Though I stand in all the light

Shadows rend me hidden

How can I be so different

That no one sees my presence

I'm always with the others

And yet I am not seen

Today

Is one of those days

Where I feel as if

I can't live another moment

I didn't know that your heart could feel

This way---as if it's being squeezed

While still trying to beat.

Can your heart be strangled?

Even though I'm surrounded by people

I feel so alone.

Why is that so?

I sturggle to hold back the tears

But I fear the dark.

It unlocks the window

For the rain to fall

I know I have to be here for a reason

But struggling against the "normal"

And trying to be myself

In a world of hypocrites

Is a heavy load for any one

I just hope I find some candles soon

To help light the way

Because I'm currently stumbling in the darkness.

If only I had someone to walk beside me...

And take my hand.

Two in a place

Always lightens a load

Wow, this is a great show of emotions. I say that because, in a way, I can relate to this. Losing someone you were close to, for whatever reason, often causes a lot of sorrow. And what's more is, usually the person walks away and doesn't even care.

You really capture alienation and disenchantment really well. I think poets are the best people to describe these sorts of feelings - it's very therapeutic to read. Some kind of emotional homeopathy, I think. I'm not sure I know why you described the others are hypocrites, unless you mean they're just very good at disguising their aloneness - perhaps that's what socialising means. I feel like Oscar Wilde now ...; -)

Sometimes we are the invisible women. It doesn't have to be lonely though. Those are the days that we can be the light in someone else's world.

Sometimes we are the bright and shining star that the world adores. Those are the days to smile.

i wonder how it is possible in the world of believers?
does religion create it for one cannot live all rules?

Hmmm I think you need my anti depressants on this one..lol vivid imagery. It makes me wish there was someone who could be there with you . beautifully expresses the feeling of lonliness someone with depression feels

It's a very nice piece of work, that really expresses a lot. Tells the truth about how the world can cut others out, just for being unique and for being one's own character. I say, "Keep it up!" and "That's the spirit!" and hopefully you will do the same for me--as I'm rebelling against the normal as well. I feel your pain; it's crystal clear in this poem of yours. Nice way of formatting and keep it up. ^^~

Oh wow. You know, I've always known that people have an empty place in themselves that they always try to fill, but they can't unless they fill it with Christ. He's the only way. Once again, I like how you're the one who puts my thoughts and feelings in the form of words. Thanks for telling me more about myself. =) Good job, and keep up the good work!
