Dragonflies over water

Dragonflies over water

A Poem by Rossen
"

counterpart to light..

"

shadows are the new edges of the unlit
 recesses into mystery...defines all shape
dark side of the moon and most of space
shadow is the night missed by the sun
always changing till the new day comes
out of the heat or warmth a cooler space
a savior to all who seek a resting place
shadows are telling they point the way
strangers of light... the edges of day
dragonflies over water my personal fave
the shadow to this artist ... I'm it's slave
shadows so soft... the highlights curve
the depths of imagery that we observe
without them the world would be
boring and flat ...ti's no way to see

shadows deep enough to hide in... to slip away
eclipsing heavenly bodies..between a solar ray
bringing hand to face a shield for eyes to know
and the one that comes with you wherever you go

Dragonflies one day dreamt me, as you probably know, through my writing, they are a real magical creature, and a sign of hope, and new beginnings.... of spiritual force... this was a masterful write, full of great lines, meanings, and soft whispers, to the one you so adore.
Much to learn here, in all mirrored ways... it's perfect.

These words take on a new meaning today:

shadows deep enough to hide in... to slip away
eclipsing heavenly bodies..between a solar ray
bringing hand to face a shield for eyes to know
and the one that comes with you wherever you go

I am moved by the beauty in this piece.

What an unusually descriptive style you have Rossen and exploring themes in an artistic way. I'd love to hear you write a poem about "light"

Beautiful...

"shadow is the night missed by the sun
always changing till the new day comes"

I adored those lines. Shadows paint the world with such artistry...created where the light and darkness meet. You capture the brilliance and mystery well here. Gorgeous writing.

a place to hide, edges to the light pointing the way...a comfort...ordinarily shadows are referred to as scary, dark, dangerous...i always liked shadows myself and found comfort in those edges of my life where i could comfortably rest and watch...unnoticed..

i really like this piece.

My first read. A fine poet that uses the standard couplet here in a creative, talented way
