G O N E !

My 1st Free Style poem promised my teacher Richard before Chrismas but I'm a forlorn mess this time of year.

G  O   N   E   !

No tenderness of now

upon my sad brow,

nor warmth of

your breath.

Many a night

my heart’s drifted

to bright days bygone,

dreams lingering ’til death.

Each moment’s embrace

by dark’s lonely grip

felt my heart’s pain

of your last days;

oh, I’d not see

your loving

manly face

e’er again.

Life’s a’spin,

it’s a daze I’m in,

I’ll be much stronger

on each beat of the drum.

Swallows grow still,

clouds no longer

beckoned from

high sunlit skies,

sad tears overflowing

from these colorless eyes;

an Afghan bullet scored a kill.

What a splendidly hearttouching surprise … I thought you'd forgotten your assignment.
How wonderful to see you didn't.
Though, not a Free Verse composition, this Free Style piece is more brilliantly rendered than your olde teacher could have expected … I am truly amazed by the quality and degree of poetic skill you repeatedly display upon the page.
There is no doubting how diligently you delved into the book on grammar and punctuation I recommended, too, as your acumen shows with remarkable clarity in every line and verse, and that picture is pristinely perfect, as is the uniquely creative design of your title … I am more than pleasantly stunned!
Sammi, I know the depth of pain and sorrow that is blended into the ink that composed this wonderfully sad, beautifully crafted piece, in loving homage to your fallen husband on the field of battle, while defending America, Afghanistan, and the world from those who would otherwise spread terror across the globe and steal our hard-won freedoms, ending our quality of life.

Aw Richard you know I would not forget anything you told me I was just trying to keep myself together this time of year [I know you understand] and I just wrote it as it cam out so I will write a free verse poem for you next if that is ok -- I can not begin to tell you how much your words of approval and compliments make me happy but there is no one who can like you do -- you do understand my sadness don't you and like my poem too?

my sweet Sammi, I'm sorry I've missed this when it was posted, I know what You've needed is some little of love and kind warmth, War is never easy, never will be, not now, or in the past, or ever, never easy on any one, You have my tears my dear, You the least deserve our sincere tears, not only for Your pain and sadness but also for those who can read through Your emotively touching words the real meaning of Wars, Your style and the presentation from the title to the shape of Your poem, add a more tender but also strong touch of Your pain, raising and falling, fading and appearing, like waves, like how You are feeling Your life is like, Your tittle, the way it appears, gives me this feeling of great shock, deep yet tender pain, the fading and death, the calling with no response, very very brilliantly done in my mind's eyes, I feel You my dear... ever bless You for this woman You amazingly truly are...

I'm not a teacher dear Sammi, nor an expert in poetry, but in my mind's eyes Your poem is more than amazing, and Your poetical touches are outstanding, a truly fine piece, I always loved the originality of Your pen, and as I see in Richard's review he is more than just "proud" of You :)

Sometimes my sweet we need people who barely know us, not those whom are close to us, know almost everything about us, sometimes we want to speak it all to a stranger, not to them... so please let me know if You ever needed to "spill" all Your tears out.

Your sweetness is like no others emmajoy so gently touching my heart, this poem was very hard to write because its about my husband's death and how much I truly miss him all the time -- yes my heartbeat does stutter -- thank you with my stuttering heart! :)
