Ode to the Tree

Ode to the Tree

A Poem by SheActsLikeSummer
"

You rise from the ground...

"

You rise from the ground

Strong roots digging into the earth

Catching hold of the rocks

The dirt

Firmly submerged beneath the surface

And you beg

Beg for the soil

To cling on and never let go

And then you grow

Your arms reaching

Past the blue skies

The clouds rolling in the distance

You reach into the heavens

Branches dancing as the wind

Drifts through your leaves

In a joyful sensation

Creeping up through your branches

Sifting between the indentations

Of your bark

And then it settles

Deep in your thick trunk

Hidden in your soul

And when that feeling kicks in

Becomes utterly overwhelming

You repay us of our carbon dioxide

Let out a bellowing breath

Exhaling our most needed,

Oxygen

My suggestions, dear friend:
I would lose all the commas after the lines, I think they are a tad distracting from your words. The line "And the you grow"...it sounds like you meant, "And you grow".
Overall, I love it! I think trees are pehaps the most naturally beautiful thing, and the most important thing (being producers of oxygen) on the planet. You have done a very nice job!

This would make a nice caption for a water coloring painting of a North American Red wood.

Should get you an A+ at school.
Nicely evolved piece. Well observed too, the life and times of something we all pass and barely notice, but which is so vital to our existence. Excellent ending.
