Atlas Shrugging

Atlas Shrugging

A Poem by Silhouettic

Park bench slumber beneath a headline blanket
Telling me about "The Man"
and how I oughta thank him
For the air in my lungs and
the clothes on my back
But who am I supposed to thank
for my stomach full of trash?
You see,
one man's waste is another man's treasure
and the taste isn't great
but neither is the weather
At least I ain't alone
when the rain comes down
but when the gutters overflow
I'll be the first to drown.
Cause that seems to be
the motto of the heeded call
United we're meant to stand
but divided we fall.
The welfare of the people
is second guessed by the "law"
keeping the rich people rich
and the poor people poor.
Meanwhile potential happiness
is wasted on war,
like guns, bullets and bombs
what the f**k are they for?
National security
more like a national joke,
just one more reason why
Atlas's back is broke.
He's tired of holding up a world
that let itself go, caught
in the wake of an ocean
simply set to explode,
while the stars watch from afar,
this reality show.
If there's another channel to change to
I guess we'll never know
til then, here's the weather
cya tomorrow.
