If Only The Sky Would Disappear

If Only The Sky Would Disappear

A Poem by Silhouettic

At night I can see the stars reflect in your eyes
through the atmosphere, the blanket hiding us.
We may never know if what we’re told is right
only a panorama of distant sparks to discuss.

I wish that we could be closer to these lights
and feel the warmth of a million years ago,
but we do not know what lies beyond that void
or if it’s a place that we can even go

So many questions I’d like to ask this universe
like what lies beyond the layer between cloud and star?
does this spiral of planets and dust
eternally define who and what we are.

Because not a single soul honestly knows
the reasons why we are really here.
Does the answer lie beyond the clouds?
if only the sky would disappear.
