Betrayal

He took my breath away:

strangled out my life

with fingers that gripped 

tighter with every breath.

Rough hands scratched my neck,

only released upon intense

eye contact.

Our clear blue eyes matching,

Glistening for mercy.

Respite,

Short lived,

A calloused fist fired

I contracted, winded,

My lungs compressed

The angel in my womb

Raised to heaven.

Not having to suffer,

Skipping to harmonious serenity.

A nightmarish vision, mysterious in its basis; never once admitting any sense of security in the reader's mind what is dream or reality or metaphor. Either way, the result is somewhat captivating, suggesting dark avenues of thought and carnal of imagery. Black, feral and fascinatingly Gothic.

PS. An extremely good "first stab" at a poem, but certainly not your first at writing, that's clear.
Btw, one typo: "Let them flood them floor" should be "Let them flood THE floor"
