I Quit

I Quit

A Poem by Tania Leigh
"

Ever have a day like this?

"

I finally lost my temper today

and said all of the things I wanted to say

to all of the people that had dared cross me,

and I laughed when they looked disbelievingly.

I conveniently lost my memory

and forgot all the things I’m supposed to be;

I was living in the moment for once in my life,

forgetting I’m a daughter, stepmother, and wife.

I seem to have lost my way somehow,

for there is no direction in the here and now.

I’m testing the old theory that ignorance is bliss;

look carefully at me, do you see something amiss?

I’ve finally gone and lost my mind,

and it is not something I desire to find.

I hereby resign from life’s venomous fray;

I’m halfway to insanity, and here is where I think I'll stay.

Good effort with the syllable count! It is not always about getting it exactly right! Lol.

This reminds me of the new cell phone commericals with the unlimited minutes. Maybe you can sell them a license for this poem for their next commercial! I think that it is Verizon! "I now have unlimited minutes! I want to tell off everybody that I know! Screw you, too!"

Peace and love,
Gabe

I have been there. That place where you lose control of your tongue and you say everything in your heart that has been stored up for such a long long time and after you finish everyone around stands there in awww. Because are not sure how to react or respond. But I also like we all have to be a little near insane to be as creative as we are. Creativity and insanity run hand in hand I would gather to believe.

I loved this it was a pure treat to start my evening off with.

Great Job!!!!!!

And I don't think the count matters too much.

Halfway to insanity is indeed a wonderful place to stay in. :)
We all have these days I'm afraid, where you just snap and spend the next day apologizing to everyone.
Better not keep it inside.

I think it's a great write - mostly good rhyming and a wonderful pick for the subject.

LOL great poem, I enjoyed reading it and had a chuckle too as I can remember having or maybe wishing to have a day like that. It flowed nicely and I could hear you in my mind.

To be honest the syllable count doesn't need to be spot on if you are descending into insanity. Thought this was really well done. One of those that should be printed in a newspaper as a days reflection for everyone to enjoy.

Haha, I love it! Especially the end - very clever :] Despite the slightly-off syllable count, I thought it flowed quite nicely. I hope your day gets better! Thanks for sharing.
