Megalomaniac

Megalomaniac

A Poem by Creepy Swine Guy

How difficult must it be for you to keep
constant vigil over all the universe?
How arduous for you to suffer we fools
and keep the order of Heaven and Earth?

How do you sleep, knowing that
while you do, one of our number
might not be doing the requsite work
to prepare the world for your waking?

How do you suffer the foolish babes
born in the night, who don't know their lot?

They do not know that we, the children of Sisyphus,
must keep our backs perpetually to the rock,
that the universe might bend to your wishes.

I love this...the biting sarcasm. This seems unique for you and very well worded. Loved the mythology lingo,
"that we, the children of Sisyphus,
must keep backs perpetually to the rock,"

I enjoyed this so much. Arrogance is my
most hated anti-virtue.
Very nice!

We all know someone who thinks the universe really this their oyster. How does one find the time? You ask excellent questions and your Sisyphus reference is spot on. I like the way your write.

Ah the megalomaniac, fun people they are, I'm sure. I think the word style just highlighted the pretentiousness of a megalomaniac so well.

Brilliant and sardonic and feisty. Lap up 2 saucers of milk, and call my office in the morning.

That's telling like it is. ;) Very well expressed feelings regarding those of who view themselves as 'Gods gift, the absolute best, untouchable, or perfect'. That idea that at night the rest of the world is set upon their individual tasks to prepare the world for the "Megalomaniacs" waking. The addition of the Sisyphus reference added that extra punch to your final thought. I like it, a lot. Good write.
