guessing the encore

guessing the encore

A Poem by m.s.early

you ain't the best i ever heard
fo' sho
but MAN!
i dig them crazy grooves

i was in norfolk in 89
dropped out of school and hitched a ride
            --got on the bus
            (in a big way)

smiling buddha in hipster poems
   makes my spirit itch
      my skin won't settle
paradise passed the will call window
             lookin' for a miracle
                i'm jonesin'
             for something spinning
          dizzying arpeggios
       by the sound board
    sweating patchouli
wondering if it's real

ain't been the same since '95

'guessing the encore'
m.s.early,
Why not just find enjoyment..just because.
Why not be inspired by memories, music and
memories...why not? This poem is just a sweetheart
of enjoyment..just because!
Fun read smiling all the way.
I need more of that.
Blessings,
Kathy

Well, you accomplished what you wanted to, and said it how you wanted to, with nary a punctuation out of place.

there's free-spiritedness in this. i'm not familiar with the dead, but if they're as witty as you, i might like them. you have the ear for these things. it's lyrical and you make it sound like it comes so easily to you. it's sort of bluesy and capricious.

My pleasure...Any time...:).................
I love "paradise passed the will call window" - the writing style and layout really suits the theme and the sense of restlessness comes through crystal clear. Smiled at patchouli - I usually associate that with hippie-types :) I need to read more of your poetry to gain deeper insight into it. I enjoyed what I have read so far. Justine
