Their Ignorant Lives

Their Ignorant Lives

A Poem by Thoctar
"

Political poem about Ignorance and how people go through their whole lives being ignorant

"
Their Ignorant Lives
I watch them, shuffling past
As they go through their lives
Not knowing, not realizing
Going through their ignorant lives
As I look around me
Seeing the lumbering masses
Never knowing, never realizing
How ignorant they truly are
They are kept in this state
Stupefied and desensitized to the world around them
They cannot know it
They cannot open their eyes
They refuse to remember the past
Thinking it is not important
But it will continue to repeat
Until they remember it and learn from it
If we shut away history, consign it to be forgotten
History will repeat itself
First as tragedy, then as farce
And back again until the end of time
They cannot perceive the world around them
 Unless seduced
By false promises and propaganda
Until something uses them
The eternally exploited
The eternally ignorant
Not knowing about the world or themselves
Simply pumped full of self-fulfilling lies
Living a life of ignorance
But it is not bliss
For ignorance is not truly bliss
Ignorance is death
They are the eternally exploited, eternally ignorant
Eternally dead
And as I walk past the shuffling masses
I feel I must revive them
Or bury them
