Cereal Bowl POEM

Cereal Bowl POEM

A Chapter by C Peril
"

A poem, part of The 2nd Burden Anthology.

"
It never occurred to me,
to look for truth in a cereal bowl.
Never really thought, it might be
in the sweetness of a strawberry,
the earthiness of a nut. Nuts.

Have I been eating breakfast wrong?
All these years? Coming down the
stairs in a stupor, suspended
animation - a fog unto myself.
When there was plenty for me
to savour in the flavour
A pack of Kellogg's.

The subtle songs of a morning lost,
a contemplative, miraculous breakfast
eaten but not.

Now I know the milkman delivers God's plan,
I'll be more attentive to the message
in a morning's sustenance.

And to think most folks waste all that effort on tea leaves! I never understood how they read those. Now, alphabet soup? I can read some alphabet soup! (laughing) This was great.
