{C}Pain of Glass{lassical} POEM

A Chapter by C Peril
"

A poem, part of The 2nd Burden Anthology!

"
A phantom forever on the pane of glass,
a broken note, a human mask. I've been one
to sit and see - still yet to be the one that's
seen.

Could you gaze upon my absent hues,
and render static the shifting blues? Give me
form and substance too, that's all I'd dare
to ask from you.

See I'm so spent, in this vacant daze, lost to
the count of dreaming days. Wondering
and searching for words.

_

And in exchange, I'll be so true,
be the one to carry you, passed the gates,
atop the hill,
to deeper splendour, earthly thrill.

A promise to be there whenever you call,
to catch you on my broad wings, if you
shall fall.

_

A phantom on a pane of glass,
a phantom with a hope at last?

I struggled with "passed the gates" and wondered if it might not intend "past" the gates. He passed the gates as he carried her past the gates? Usage of "past" as a preposition? Maybe it's just me. Everything else flowed easy for me. F.
