The Snowbird's song ..

The Snowbird's song ..

A Poem by Tom
"

Winter soon be gone here ..

"
O' snowbird, high upon pendulous prong
invigorating, thy sweet, mellifluous song
chastens north wind's bitter, biting chill
unabated, your merry, cohesive shrill
when land is frozen white, hearts bleed
reconcile, merger bread, nutritious mead

O' snowbird, now sat squat on frigid soil
joyously, thou sing through strife and toil
as outer garments of men, tightened fast
your coloured plumage, designed to last
if clothes wear thin, needle and thread best
knit one purl one, winterproof, feather nest

O' snowbird, thou sapient song, lesson learned
I bow to thee, your creed not lost nor spurned
to know pangs of hunger, cold, feel insecure
nature's test, build character, enrich heart pure
challenge accepted, and to numb season's sting
in harmony with ye I sing, awaiting, verdant Spring

This feisty little Robin shows us that though very small, can withstand the frozen tundra and keep singing...
we bow to his braveness of being able to still sing through the blustery cold and doesn't complain about hunger ,etc.... brave little thing...nicely penned in rhyme...

This was absolutely beautiful. The imagery jumps off of the page. Though we don't have snow here as a rule, I find the thought of it combined with your amazing poem to be a beautiful thing.

Your snow bird is so like our little robin redbreasts in the UK who visit our garden, particularly in the winter months. We have one now who ventures very close to our back door. We always make a point of feeding them. The past winter has been harsh but there are signs of spring appearing. . Your beautiful stanzas Tom a reminder of what joy these little creatures can bring. So small but yet resilient as well. Thank you for the gift of your poetry.

Dear Tom,

I'm so delighted to read this new poem today!

The poet is inspired by the sweet yet tough and courageous Snow Bird. There she sits, precariously, on a shaky bough, singing merrily in the face of the chilling, white weather which makes the human hearts bleed. And herein lies a lesson, in the song of such a humble creature of nature. That true character is built upon sheer adversity.

I loved this poem for its beauty of rhyming verses, the words of fortitude and the breathtaking imagery of the Snowbird in Winter.

It's been quite some time since I read a new poem from you and I must say you have retained your touch and enriched your words. 🙋‍♀️💕

I always wonder how such a seemingly fragile spirit can survive in such cold...maybe how some of us survive our coldest times, through song.'
I can't wait for that verdant spring to arrive.

Beautiful with an amazing message. You rhyme real well. It is amazing how they endure frigid temperature and survive harsh winters.
